Karlsfeld/Germany, 31 January 2012
The main focus at IT-Trans, from 15th to 17th February 2012 in Karlsruhe, is on IT trends and innovations for public transport, which makes this trade fair the ideal platform for Funkwerk's presentation of Solar(L)ink, a solar-powered display module for small stations.
Solar(L)ink is the optimal display device for bus, tram and railway stops and stations which have no connection to a power or data supply. In serial production since 2011, Solar(L)ink's most important feature is its extremely low power consumption due to its bi-stable operation mode. This makes completely self-sufficient display of information possible in a module which receives power from a combination of battery and solar panel without connection to the main power grid.
The slim, lightweight and robust module based on electronic ink is a display with outstanding optical quality due to its high contrast which ensures excellent readability even in direct sunlight. Data can be communicated by a central server via GPRS/GSM, which also saves energy. Solar(L)ink offers additional advantages in that it is maintenance-free and easy to install and start-up.
An economical and robust 46“ TFT display will also be on show at IT-Trans for the first time. With its neutral design and high resolution this information display is excellently suited for animated and colour passenger information at check-in counters and in shops located in all station areas. The display is easy to start-up and is preferably connected to the central control system via GPRS/GSM mobile communication technology.
The very successful and widely used CAIMAN software platform, a central control system for reliable management of passenger information, will also be presented.
For integrated passenger information with interactive functions in the field of mobile equipment for vehicles Funkwerk is presenting a modular system for passenger information, security and entertainment. This includes, for instance, a LED/LCD monitor with video surveillance and rear-view mirror technology as well as radio connection.
